So I replaced the motor and seals on my godevil and I'm having an issue with the shaft alignment. When I first turned the motor on the upper shaft cap area got pretty hot and I had grease coming out. When I unscrewed the cap I could see my seals and see the shaft was not perfectly aligned. I had a slight gap on the right side and the left side looked like it was touching the bushing. We made some adjustments with the engin location and still do not have a perfect alignment. Fired it back up and it doesn't leak as much grease and gets hot. 1. Is it Ok that the (2) seals don't slide with the cap, or should they be pressed in better? 2. Does anyone have any tricks when aligning the shaft, and does it have to be perfect? 3. If anyone lives in Jacksonville, FL that could help me that would be great. |

Download this PDF from GD. It should explain the procedure. http://www.godevil.com/documents/Go-Dev ... Manual.pdf |

Can you turn the prop by hand with U joint attached to the engine? If not something is wrong there. Did you replace your engine with the exact same specs as the old or did you have to modify something? My guess: there is a bind at the U joint causing friction. Your U joint isn't set in the same spot as before you disassembled it. If it's set right on the engine side or shaft side this will create serious heat and your grease will sizzle out. |
