I've had a gutts full of trying to find a universal joint to go from inch to 3/4 for my long tail so I'm going have to import one from drive shaft parts. So my question is how good are those wee 1000 series universal joints. Has anyone had one fail. I think il get a spare at the same time.
Am I better to ring the likes of Gd and get a built for propose one.

The shipping to New Zealand is horrendous but its still cheaper than one built an adaptor for and goosed.

Any better ideas?

Used the 1000 series multiple times for this application... work great and cant beat the price. Be sure you select the right key for your setup they have a 1/4" and a 3/16" keyed yokes on their website.... good luck!

Kia Ora Walkers, I feel for you on having to import stuff. I lived in NZ (Kaikoura) for 2 years and had to have some stuff shipped over from the US, the shipping was horrendous. I would suggest buying at least 2 of the crossmembers for your yokes though, if anything fails it will be that crossmember. I belive that Driveshaft parts uses the 5-170x unit. I have run their stuff for 3 years now with only 1 problem-I had a snap ring come off and the crossmember threw the bearing cap. I still had 3 caps running so it ran good enough to get me back home though. Good luck, if I remember right mud motors were pretty much unheard of in NZ so maybe you can start a trend!
