 Re: 1436 motor size??
I have a old 1436 and use a 5hp briggs outboard on it and it is good enough. My guess would be one of the 10hp longtails and as light as you can find.

A 16 or 18 hp will be fine. A 10 will push it thou

 Re: 1436 motor size??
Nothing larger than a 23 for sure. My original boat was a 14*36 and the last motor i had on it was a 18hp. I traveled the world with that little rig and loved it. The 18hp is the same block as the 23 which has similar weight. The thing to be careful with is making sharp turns with that narrow boat. When you get strectched out with weight to one side and then the force of the motor pushing that corner down, It easy to sink it in that situation. Nothing more than a 23 and wear your kill switch is my recommendation.
