 6.5 predator
Just finished a longtail with a 6.5 from harbor freight and went and ran it, top speed was 5.2 two guys and a bow on 1236, things slow, Think I should of got more out of it.
ANYONE ELSE RUNNING ONE OF THESE 6.5 SLOW POKES

We use em, but only for layout boats, like you said... too slow for anything else

I used the Predator 212cc engine on my longtail build. I modified it a little and get speeds of around 14 mph with me(210lbs), battery, trolling motor, extra gas, cooler and some fishing gear in a 1232 jon. Check out my post... You have alot of parts available for that motor. Hell there are guys in the minibike/ kart world pushing 20hp out of a Honda gx200 6.5hp block. You can get 9hp pretty easily. Prop it right for the rpm and 12-15mph not out of the question. Check out NR Racing they have alot of options for your motor. Cams, carb, exhaust removing gov. are all things worth looking into.

I got 13mph out of 6.5 on a 1232 with me and 50qt yeti and 85 pound dog.
