I have a 24 hp Honda longtail on a 1644 go devil boat and I'll run 18 with just gas and a cooler. Add weight and it slows down.

It's not too bad, I can still get on plane with two of us in the boat and loaded with decoys, it just isn't fast. Only place I don't like the boat is on bigger lakes. It's great on the rivers and marshes.

Oh okay yeah I hunt a lot of marshes and flooded timber so it should Do great, I have not ran the motor on a boat yet but I have it unders the carport and I crank it once a week just to keep it from sitting up and it runs so good.

Re: 24 Honda LT pushing a 16x44 Shallow water customs
^^^^ I'm swapping a 16 vanguard out with a new honda gx630 and Mr. Coco at GD told me to cut the plunger off on that shutoff selonoid. The are designed for pressure washers and other applications that shut the motor off at WOT, not for a mud motor that you shut off at idle. It was an easy job. 20 mins. If you do a search on it in the motor mods forum there is a lot of good info on those solenoid. It sounds like there are plenty of probs with them.
