loosen the throttle arm nut (might have to remove the gas tank) this should help the arm swing freely and smoothly. Might have to add a stiffer spring to act as a return, or you could do the same on the governor arm... |

We drill a small hole to pass the cable through the arm and put a stop on the other end, then took the orginal return spring off and mounted a stiffer one in the original hole and the other end to a nearby mounting bolt for the tank I believe. |

I had to deal with this the other day. Since I had a brand new motor I didnt want to bypass the governor until I had at least broken it in. I ended up running the cable up near the carb and over to the governor arm. Ran the cable through one of the holes and attached cable stop. I made sure to adjust it to where it just barely tugs on the arm when I pull the throttle lever, otherwise it overpowers governor and you would of been better off doing it a different way. Once I brake it in and do a few mods namely valve springs, I will look at hooking it up as SwampDonkey1 does. |
