Post subject:  longtail running depth question

I'm kinda new to the longtail scene and have a few questions for the more
Experienced people who wouldn't mind passing down some knowledge.
I just bought a 1436 crawdad with a 13hp longtail. Transom is 16" while running
at full speed the prop seems to be running about a foot below the surface of the
water line. The water line is about where the aide braces attach to the tube (pic)
is this to deep or is this normal. If not what can I do to change this and how will
This effect the boats operation or handling? Thanks

To adjust the running depth you need to bend the back half inch of the plate down a little bit. A big cresent works.

Ok. Thanks. What will this do to the performance of the boat/engine? How deep should the plate be running? 1, 2, 3 inches down? Deeper? At surface?

For best performance, slightly bend the trailing edge of the cavitation plate until the top of the plate is running an inch or two under the surface of the water.

Thanks guys
With this give it more top end due to props pushing forward more than upwards?

Well thanks guys for the insight. Tomorrow Huck Finn and I are taking our boats out and I'll see what I can do. Thanks
