Just curious i have a 20hp gdlt and im about to get a 14 foot v hull for free how will the lt do on a v hull its 14 foot by the way |

Short answer is not so good...but it will work. A better fit would be a 15-17' hull. It all depends as well where you run and the load you carry: that 14', if it a riveter, thinner gauge hull, may require beefing up the transom area. You will have to be very careful with balancing the weight, turning, make sure you carry all requisite safety gear; make sure the kill switch works and wear the lanyard! This is most definitely a limited 2 man at most hunting boat but for free a good deal. Let us know how it goes. |

To the best of my knowledge is a longtail works best on a long skinny boat. I was told that a longtail works better on a flat bottom boat better then a v Hull or semi v Hull due to the fact of how the water flow from under the boat. On a flat bottom boat the water will gather up and start the head of the wake just where the longtail cav. Plate and prop ride. On a V style Hull this head of the wake is farther behind the boat making it not a efficient and harder to operate. now this is just what I've been told on mmt and unfortunately I can not verify this for you due to the fact I own a flat bottom. I ask the same question when I was looking for a rig. I was looking at a war eagle which is a semi V and was told by several people to stay away from a V so that's what I did. hope this help and you might.try to use the search feature on this site for better information |

You will definitely see better performance on a long, skinny boat for a longtail. |

i have a 25 longtail on a semi v and the ride and performance isn to bad i can't compare it to a flat bottom tho cause ive never owned one |

What Coupe said but I want to qualify what I posted- if you don't have a lot of mud, stumps, etc., you can get by with a semi-v like my tracker grizzly (not sure the angle of the bottom, partly vee mostly flat but has chines). I "cheated" a bit by adding steelflex (gatorglide is another product there are others) to help out over grass/mud areas by reducing friction. In those "hellilsh" marshes with all those impediments, a true flat skinny mud hull is the ticket for the LT. |

It is a 14 foot skinny hull round chines flat all the way to the bow its just at the bow it comes to a V im not sure what kind of hull that makes it but it is long and skinny with flat bottom just has a V front |

X2^ but watch the semi v on the front on the boat because if you(sorry) when you hit a stump just under the water if its not dead center the boat will jump hard to the left or right so be sure to have a grab bar and WEAR your saftey kill switch and made sure it works. Because you may go swimming easier than with a flat bottom due to the angle on the bottom will catch the stump like a ramp. Good luck |

Ya thanks a lot guys i figured it would work iv looked at some of the mud run photos and seen guys running v feonts just wanted to get yals opinion its greatly appreciated how much more balls you think the 20hp will have compared to the 13 i used to have |
