First off, I understand that a short boat is not the best for a mud motor....however, I have to be able to muscle this boat around. No boat ramps to get where I want to go, and there are some sand bars I have to pull across. Don't tell me to get another boat. Anyway...I have been watching for a mud motor for a while and came across a deal on a 23 vanguard mud buddy that I can't pass up. I have a 1242 alweld that I was planning to put it on. Too heavy? Too much motor? I guess I could buy the motor and try it, and if it's too big then I could trade down to a smaller motor. Thoughts? |

That's pretty much same setup I got except mines a 20hp. It does great by myself (155lbs) I get 18-20 mph. It don't drop much with 1 other person my size but it plows bad with 3 |

Some water does get in when I shut it down but not a lot. It gets more water when making a sharp u turn at wot |
