Post subject: | 23hp mud buddy...how do I mount this to my transom? |
I've searched and I'm having trouble finding the answer. I picked up the used mud buddy mentioned in a previous post yesterday and need to figure out how to mount it. The mount it came with has a small lip that goes over the transom and two holes on the back side of the transom to run bolts through. Are there any mounts out there that just clamp on? I really don't want to drill holes in the transom if I can avoid it, especially since I don't even know if I'm going to like this setup on my boat yet. I can probably get some pictures if I need to. |

You would be better off bolting through your transom i wouldn't trust a surface drive motor that is just clamped on with the kinds of terrain these kinds of motors run in. |

Bolt the motor on! If you can keep a mud motor on the transom with Only the clamps, you probably don't need a mud motor. But it's your motor you do what you want. I've seen a few motors fall off |

Does anyone have a picture somewhere of a longtail mud buddy transom mount? I just want to make sure this is original equipment and I'm not drilling holes where they shouldn't be in case I have to replace the mount at some point. |

Holes can be welded alot cheaper than buying a new motor because its at the bottom of the lake! Take a picture so we can see the mount. |

Got tired of thinking about it so i just went out and bolted it up. Think a piece of plywood is ok right there? Had to fill the space with something. |
