Post subject:  Synthetic Oil

I've read in numerous places that synthetic improves the performance of your motor. Just bought a new 35 HP Go-Devil. I put regular 30w oil in it for the break-in period and after 6 or 8 hours I'm planning on draining it and re-filling with synthetic. The question is.....If this motor was going to be running in temperatures from 0 degrees to 70 degrees...what would you use for Oil weight?? I'm leaning toward 10w 30. Anyone see a big problem with that?? Would I be better served with something else??

Thanks

If it is a Kohler, they reccomend running 10W-30 at 40-whatever temp and 5W-30 at 40 to -20.

It may good idea to run synthetic, but it's not recommended until you have at least 50 hours on the motor.

That's what's recomended by small engine manufacturers. To ensure everything is properly seated, I assume.
