Well finally made a frogging trip this year and needed a longtail so we took my buddies longtail with a new predator 212cc (not sure the horse power) and put it on my 17x46 alweld and took off.. Yes motor is a little small but for froggin it was perfect at idling speed to scan the banks. The longtail is not a go devil brand or known brand, the company is out of Florida and the design is based off set ups from South America and somewhere else where they use them. Here's the link to the kit : http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewitem ... 1007550044 For the price u can't beat it, and also for a $90 harbor freight motor .. Which never failed on us , I was impressed.. Did well in the weeds and Lillie's . With me (190) and a buddy (215) and 3 batteries we were steady 7mph which I didn't think we would get near that fast. Hope this helps for someone who isn't looking for an expensive rig or needs something just to put around in.. Also that company makes kits for larger motors. Only cons to the kit is the tail is longer than average longtails and there's no plate above the prop and also the prop is very small.. I feel like with a bigger prop it would help a lot. |

kirk, keeps us posted on that Asian longtail...wonder if they make bigger HP motors? I'm also wondering about the durability of that design. I still use a longtail in these marshes- we don't have much mud, the bottom is hard sand/marl, relatively short runs, and it is a sheltered marsh, so the LT shines. Oh yeah, did you get any frogs? That is a benefit of having an airboat here- my brother-in-law trades fish for frogs, I love those frog legs for sure. |

Will do, they do make larger kits for larger motors.. And we still use long tails in the marsh that I get to hunt often, we don't need speed just something dependable. And longtails do the tricks and yes frog legs aren't the most popular thing to come by, we had a slow night but its always a fun time |
