getting all my parts together to start my 2nd build and had a generic question. I see where some are using a flange bearing on top and was curious if you are putting a seal behind that bearing housing or just letting the grease go all the way up to the back of the bearing housing. Theres a grease fitting on the bearing itself so no need to let the grease from housing service the bearing, and not having a seal on the top end of the shaft would also create a leak point for the grease. just curious.

I just use some of the red gasket sealant on mine and haven't had any problems. My top flange bearing is shielded and sealed.

I think i'd go with a couple of seals behind the flange bearings just to make sure you keep the grease in and the water out.

Kinda what I was thinking. I posted sketches of what I am going to do with the bushings, bearings, and seals in the thread titled threading the OD of dom tube.

What kind of grease seals do y'all use? Rotary shaft seals or what?

I just used double lip spring loader oil seals. Search honda gx 390 build. I put lots of pictures in that thread and you can see the seals there.
