 First time builder question
Hey everyone new to here but anyways, I am planning on building a longtail similar to the ppf wood duck. My question is in the driveshaft housing, do the bronze bushings acts as your bearings or do you need bearings as well? Also I see on the housing shafts there are two holes drilled, one for a greese zero in the middle of the bushing I'm assuming, what is the other one for? Thanks for helping a newbie out!

 Re: First time builder question
I've got a new set of Mad Mud motor plans that make a really good guide and include pics, measurements, and part numbers. I'll ship it to you for $25.

 Re: First time builder question
for the lower HP motors it seems most people use bushings top, middle and bottom.for the larger HP motors guys are using a bearing at the top and bushing middle and bottom. get yourself a set of the mad mud motor plans and use the search function on this site it should help answer most of your questions.

 Re: First time builder question
Mn Hunter I also bought the Mad Motor plans and they are great place to start. However I decided to go with a tube frame and bearings at the top and bottom. Beavertail in Mn. sells parts for thier motors and I decided to spend the extra money on the bearing set up. I like how it makes the bearing and seals extremely easy to replace when they go bad. I also hope the sealed bearing will last longer and perform better. Since guys have been using bushings for years I guess they work great also. If you have a half @$$ good imagination or just look at the thousands of pictures on the internet you can redesign the Mad Plans to a personal one up motor. My motor is only a 13hp. Good luck http://www.explorebeavertail.com/parts.html
