Post subject:  Replacing upper seals on 6.5 lt go devil

I have a 6.5 horse 2010 go devil motor that I have been using and am preparing to do an end of summer tune up prior to using it this coming season. As you can see in the pictures attached The upper shaft seal leaks/produces grease once pumped full. In my owners manual all it states is "When lubricating the shaft you are replacing grease lost due to heat expansion, this shouldn't be more than 5 to ten pumps on the grease gun, if consuming more replace the seals". I use my motor on average 3/4 times a month and everything else is in good working condition, and when lubricating before a run it never takes more than 2/3 pumps to fill up the grease reservoir and make the seal ooze grease as shown. It does throw a small amount of grease due to this but i try to keep the seal clean and wiped as much as possible. I'm just not sure if this means i definitely need to replace the seals or if with proper lubrication and care this will last and not cause shaft damage etc. The manual does explain the step by step seal replacement and i can easily buy them and take on the job but this is my first mud motor and I don't want to make the wrong decision. I could always buy them and have a shop replace them but like I said not sure if its necessary/ worth the money. any input is appreciated.

That's what a Go-Devil is supposed to look like! Haha. Seriously though I believe you're fine.

That's the cleanest bearing set I've seen yet. You're good.
