Added Pods and killed my speed
Hopefully someone will have some advice on this. I have a Tracker 1648 with a SWOMP 35 SS on it. Last fall if cut 4 in out of the transom to improve the shaft angle. Shorter transom with a heavier air cooled motor meant water in the boat. This year I added the small pods from Boyd's welding to get the stern up and add some stability. All that is good, but it would appear that the the wake changed enough that the prop is now in some turbulent water and won't push it very good. The cav plate was running under the surface so I plan on adjusting that angle, but I am not confident that will do much for me. Any other ideas? I am thinking of giving up and getting a flat bottom boat.

Give up and buy a flat bottom boat. Let this be a lesson to someone else that will come along in the future doing an MMT search for "pods".

Re: Added Pods and killed my speed
I had pods on my boat when I had my outboard. When I put my mm on I cut the pods off and it helped my performance a lot but I wasnt happy. I am now a few weeks away from recieving my custom hull made for a mm.

Had pods on my 1st boat. Cut them off when i bought my new boat it had pods on it i had to cut them off also. If ya can't afford a custom hull then just make due with what ya got. A 16-48 should be fine with that motor. Just don't stop to fast drive the hell out of it you'll get used to it.

Have you tried to move the motor forward or back by switching which transon pivot hole there are thee to chose from. I think B.W. INC sends them out in the center hole I would try moving it to the front one and give that a try

I've adjusted the cav plate and that helped. Next will changing the pivot.
