How much weight will be in the boat? Did you ever get the video I sent you?

Post subject:  Re: honda go devil

Yes I got it and it will be weighed down alot

Post subject:  Re: honda go devil

If it can hold the weight I'd go bigger. The 22 will push it fine with you solo until you start adding weight, especially if you're gonna be fishing it a lot

What about the 35 does it go through the thick Lilly good? I have a 35 surface drive right now and it sucks to fish with in the lilly

I've got a 31 and its a beast in the thick shit, if you can hang on it will go.. I had a 20 and 23 before that, night and day difference!

I might try it out cause the surface drive works the dog shit out of you in the Lilly and you can't work it like the longtail. I've drove a 31 before but just in open water

I am telling you. I call the 23 I am running an environmental devastation. This thing chews up vegetation so much. The 35 will be a beast. Woodie has got some good video on here. I am running the same stuff but taller lilies. You will be fine as long as you don't overload the boat. What happened to the backh20 option?

The 22 Hp Honda is actually more like a 27-28 (gross hp). Honda started rating their engines by "net HP" all the other manufacturers go by "gross hp"... Google it...

Bobbymc is correct. All other manufactures us the j1940 test which is gross hp. This changes my thinking on next longtail purchase.

I've been told some of the Honda's require 12v pover for the electronic ignition. If the battery is dead the motor won't run unlike the B&S which you can use the recoil battery or not.

I replaced my 16 BS with a honda 630gx (20hp) this year on my GDLT. I have 40 hours on it and it has been great. The only thing I did to it was cut the plunger off the fuel shut off solenoid and disconnect the power to it. I run it on a 1448 and 1848 rivited alumacraft. Not a speed demon but it will get me where I want to go. I get 14-17mph depending on the load. Had it out yesterday and it was 28 degrees and it started and ran just fine. Winter weather advisory up here in Northern MN all week. We will be busting ice soon enough...
