i have a 16/48 with a coast guard bow and ribbed bottom. im running a 25hp kholer on a mudbuddy lt. yes I know that's not much of a mud boat but its wat I got. im concerned with speeds. it seems slower than some speeds mentioned on here and im jst courious on wat some of you guys are getting. I didn't have my gps with me today so im not exactly sure of speed but deffinitly slow. this is with just me battery and 5gal gas running in open water and with a brand new prop. its a backwater 9x6 and when I got it I was very surprised on the lack of cupping. also I saw on here about length of shaft to transom height also wondering about that. I will post later shaft length and transom height. so let me know guys. thanks!!!! |

1648 grizzly w/27 HP LT- the speeds are just like those previous posters...make sure you get a tiny tach to check your idle rpms and rpms in general. Your BackH20 angle/cavitation plate will probably need adjustment for that high transom; you might also tweak/advance the throttle up to 4100 rpm. These speeds are about all you can expect. Your elevation could be a factor but I don't know that or how you compensate- I am close to sea level so no factor. As was stated, balance your weight, hulls are different and you find out by trial and error. Go synthetic with the oil and grease. Gatorglide, quickslick, or steelflex is another plus on the hull bottom. |
