 Over before it began...
Okay, here's the situation. My buddy's boat broke down so I pulled him out. In the process my boat broke down.
20 hp beavertail. Here's what I think happened: Key and tack weld holding it broke under load. Something in process must have killed something in shaft (bushings maybe?) because when I tilted it up black "water" came running out.
I removed u joint and it needs replacing due to inside wear. I removed the prop nut but can't get the prop off ( monster pita when I tried last year and it's stuck now). Figured out how to remove the bushing cap (?) behind prop but can't get angle on the one at the top (next to motor) end of the shaft.
Planning on buying new u joint, new shaft and new prop along with new bearings and bushings.
1. How the hell do I get the shaft out? 2. Where can I buy those items? 3. How complicated is this process really going to be? I am no mechanic, but with directions and schematics I just cleaned my carb, replaced the jets and gaskets and wired the whole boat for lights etc.
Any help anyone can give will save me from throwing money and time away.
