I'm looking at buying a 1648 weld built with a 29 horse longtail. Is it worth buying or would.i be happier waiting and buying a surface drive motor on a different boat? Are the long tails better than the surface drive? I'll be hunting low sandy rivers and backwater holes on the lake! Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk |

Too many variables. Need to know every detail about your terrain. Vegetation, stumps, depth, and distance. |

Shallow sand rivers. Plenty of stumps. Sometimes I'll be running in vegetation down at the lake. Distamce varies. Some.mornings it could a two.minute boat ride other times it could be an hour Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk |

If there are any spots where you are getting stuck with the longtail you are for sure going to get stuck with the surface drive. If you start hitting stumps with the SD things are going to break. Expensive things. If you can bare the long rides with the lt than stick with it. You can always bring spare parts like a shaft, plugs, props to get you home with a LT. You could also bump up to a 35lt with that size boat. The sand is a big factor also. It will grind those props to a nub in no time |

That thin weldbuilt hull will look like a washboard in a area with a lot of stumps!!! |
