It depends on the year of the engine I believe. 3400 is very safe. A lawn mower shop told me 3600 is a good number. My opinion is 3800 would be a happy medium. But I run mine even into the 4000's with rev limiter set at 4300. I have mikuni carb and bps exhaust. |

How many wraps did you put for the tiny tach |

I have 4 wraps on my tach wire. I routinely turn my Honda 20 4100-4150... No issues and still haven't heard valves float lol. I try to keep it sub 4000 though. Only reason I'm that high now is due to prop wear. |

I have 4 1/2 wraps. If you already ordered the mikuni then so be it. It's a lot of money for the small gains |

I need it for the liad carrying my boat is to heavy. ... so I shouldn't order it |

Don't get me wrong. Load carrying will definitely go up as so will speed by only 2 or 3 mph. But for the money it's better to save up and get a 35 hp. Which will make a more significant difference. Then mod that. |

3400 is right for a new 23. I have a 16x38 and I can run 3400 all day. So it sounds like everything is good. |

Should my rpm be higher than 3400 in the water |

Post subject: | Re: rpm |
3400 is at the bottom of the acceptable range but its still good. A clean 9x5 might ease the load a bit an put you round3700 3800. That must be a hefty boat |
