 New gdlt
Hello guys, I just picked up a 16 briggs gd on a 15-36 crawfish skiff. When i first tried it, the cav plate was bent up wards and the prop would dive hard, making it impossible to steer. I fixed this. Now when im running, it wants to push into my leg, if i let it go, it will self steer slowly to the right
Im trying to set the skag and cav plate to run with little to no constant strain on my arm and shoulder How is yours set? Do you run so that the prop dives or kicks itself out of the water? Does your gd constantly push one way or the other? Thanks, dave

 Re: New gdlt
Keep playing with the plate until it runs nice and even just under the surface. Never noticed mine pulling one direction or the other. You sure it is square on the boat? Maybe a little more weight on one side? You shouldn't have to man handle it while running. Once everything is right should be able to just guide it along.

 Re: New gdlt
The cavitation plate should ride right below the waters surface. The boat is pulling because the boat is not balanced. Shift some weight around until it is balanced. When everything is set right you should be able to let go of the handle and steer somewhat by leaning to one side or the other.
