Post Alumacraft chop up and rebuild
Taking my 16.5 alumacraft and chopping it up. It had a SS deck with front hatch that took up 3/4 of the boat which sheltered a 30 gallon gas tank. Needless to say the weight was crazy. Also removing the gig rails and front lights to make room for a trolling motor and Bowfishing room.

Going to keep the front hatch for accessory battery and smaller gas tank. Just trying to make more floor space for friendlier hunting in the boat. Plan on bolting thin SS flat stock to the ribs on the sides for a base to mount rod holder's, switch panel, etc.

Nothing special, just my old rust can.

Thanks

Good work! Open floor is the ticket! You don't need that much gas for our glorified lawnmower engines. I use about 2.3 gallons for my 12 mile round trip hunts with my 27 HP LT. Extended decks and gun boxes take up too much room.

Especially with a 4 stroke LT, thing runs bagoozle of miles on fumes. Still wish I had at least a 27 if not a 30, 35. Overall I think I'll be happier.

Once the last day of season ends, the other part of duck hunting season begins... Decoys, boat, etc.

jake, I recommend hydroturf over the alum floor- you can get the closeout sheets and save $, what HP motor are you running? I may have to go with the 35 SS from BackH20 next! My next project is the bow mount trolling motor- I have the base made up, need to weld another L piece to complete it. I want to go bass fishing bad!

Thanks ak, believe it or not it's Tom walkers old boat off of A&E's show hog hunters. He had the deck built for gator hunting, I used it like that this past season and didn't fit my needs.

Glades, hydro turf is definitely coming. I have a fishing jet ski and absolutely crave the stuff on everything I own. It will be on it when it's finished. I'm running a v twin 24 hp mud buddy frame. Motor is pretty tough but isn't a speed demon with the semi v. I wouldn't hesitate to go bigger if I was affordable for it. I too fish quite a bit this time a year and plan on fabricating a TM mount. Light mount, and gig lights. Lots of plans, I left it at my dad's so I could get my jet ski home. Waiting for him to finish the. Demolition of the old deck and bench seat. Once it's back here the overhaul begins.
