Post Bent drive shaft need help!
Hey guys at full steam I clipped a rock or a log. Got her home and the prop is fine but bent the shaft. Is it worth straightening it or should I get a new one. Help please!

You take the old one out and go to your local machine shop and have them make a new one like it. They are prety straight forward.

Like said above
Get a new one.

Remove the prop, and the key from the top of the shaft- from the u joint yoke- pull from the bottom all the way out.

Wear gloves.

To remove the prop - get a 2x4 or a piece of flat bar cut a 3/4" hole in it and leave it 3-4' long for leverage.
Put a wrench on the nut above the prop - use a tube or something for leverage on it - then pull towards each other and it'll release the prop.

Ok here are some pics. The biggest issue I see to removing it thru the bottom is that the welded a washer onto the shaft. Sure I can grind it off but is there a reason for it? And to remove the shaft do I have to pull the bearing retainer out behind the prop? I did lightly tap the shaft down to which it feels like it is hitting something before the welded on washer hits the top bearing (that I can't get out).

Cut it off, then pull it out.

If its bent you're going to get a new one anyways.
