Hi I'm new to MMT, been reading and learning a lot as I've never owned a mm but will be buying in the near future. I have a 14x42 Jon boat and just found a mud buddy 29 hp Kawasaki and was wondering if that is to big for my boat and if it's a good mm

Its a good mm. Itll work but its alot of motor for that boat. That will get you out of pretty much anything it gets you into. just be careful.

My buddy has one on a 1554 Jon. Tac read 2,200 when he bought it. That was 8 years ago. He can go just about anywhere he wants.
Good motor for sure.

It will be ok, just beef up that transom and put some splash guards so you dont swamp

I ran one on back of a 1440 I had. I had to build a box behind the front deck to house the battery and gas tank, becuase with either one of them in the rear the stern squatted too bad. Once I moved some weight to the front of the boat she ran like a champ.

Just distribute the heavy stuff to the front and middle so it sits even, and dont let of too fast

Thanks I think it might be a bit much for my boat, I'll just keep saving for a backwater 23hp

I found it on trapperman.com $2000 located on south central Iowa, it's 4 pages deep in the trap shed titled mudd motor, my boat is a alumacraft and I load it extremely heavy during season so I think I better just go with a smaller one, I talked to back water n will prolly go that route

Most of my loading and unloading is done in a inch or less of water with a bit of dragging, had a 16x48 but it was real tough to drag n load n unload, love my 14' just need a mm

Back Water is the way to go. I have a 23 Swomp on a 1448 and it's a sweet combo. Run your gas tank or battery up front and you will have a sweet setup.

They got a 29 Kawi mb sd on local forums for 1700 right now if anyone's still lookin. If I recall correctly they are already fuel injected strong motors

I had a 23 hp mudbuddy on a 14x42 jon boat and it was the perfect setup until I squared a stump up just right. Boat got a hole the size of your fist. Good thing I was close to the bank. Other than that I loved that combo.
