 Changing Seals
Since there isn't really a picture tutorial of this, I thought I'd show my foray into changing the seals of my upper and lowers. Lowers went fine, but I'm going to need help on the uppers. Re: Changing Seals
Sorry for the out of order pics. Beavertail 35 is the motor. Just took some penetrating oil to get the nuts and prop off, didn't even need a prop wrench. The old seals were a pain in the ass to remove, did it very carefully with a screw driver but should have bought a seal puller. The new seals sucked, too. Put some grease on the outer parts and put the first seal back in the cap. Then carefully hammered them in with a rubber mallet. Did the same with the second, and that was that.
Went to start working on the upper seals and found that the drive shaft is held in with what looks like wedges that might be welded. Help with removing these is needed.

 Re: Changing Seals
Not sure if this is correct but if it was me I would pull the U-joint apart and try to tap that yoke off the end of the shaft. Can't tell in the pics if it is welded or what it is welded to. I run a GD and it is a little different setup. Of course remove that set bolt first.

 Re: Changing Seals
Just went through this with AKA Freshwaterkilla. Not fun. Lotsa pounding with a hand sledge, but we got 'er done.
I'd shoot him a pm and these pics and see what he says. Good Luck!

 Re: Changing Seals
Take the prop and nuts off, slide a piece pipe over the shaft with just long enough room for one nut and washer. Tighten the nut and it should pull the shaft out if the yoke. Use penetrant if it's stuck and tap on the yoke after every crank on the nut to loosen things up.

 Re: Changing Seals
You may have to grind that tack off if it is one.
