dont know... would you have to put a spring on the carb so when you let off the gas it would slow down? It would be nice when you hit a deadhead or stump and kicks outta your hand. I went wide open into a d@mn tree like that. ben nice if the throttle was at idle as i was picking my butt up out the bottom of the boat... |

I have heard of people using bicyle brake levers as the throttle but ive never seen a picture of it. There are some guys on here though that have them. |

Yea I have done it....they aren't very expensive from GD. the throttle is a little small to slip right on there but it has a set screw that you can back out and take something like a dremel tool and make it bigger then tighten it down, which is what i did...and i like it alot...or you can go what i think would be a little more time consuming and cut the handle and find a piece that it'll fit on and weld it together. |

I made one out of a bike brake, it works pretty good, but I'm sure that a GD throttle would be a bit heavier duty. |

lparrish: "My question is how should the throttle be set, to hold it's position or to return when released? The motor is a lot easier to operate when the throttle holds it position but it can get you in a bind if you need to reduce the motor speed and you can not get to the throttle quickly." Anyone have any definitive answer on how it SHOULD be set? I too would like the throttle to return when released. I just took my 24 out for the first time after owning a Hyperdrive and the throttle issue was my number one concern. Would extra modification to the throttle/carb/spring have to be done? (Don't really want to get in to all that!) Thanks!! |

Still haven't gotten around to doing this! Any more pics? I really don't want to cut my handle!! I ordered the billet style lever from MB but it was too small to go around the handle> How would you install a carb spring? |
