 Changing Lower Seals GD23
I'm in the process of changing the lower seals in my 23-GD. I got the original all rubber seals out and have been looking for some replacements. I cannot find the exact seal, but found some Timpkin seals that have the correct OD and ID. The only differences are that they heave a metal body and are not as thick as the original.
Will these work? I've never replaced the seals before and figured it was about time to do it.

Get your SN and just call GoDevil - they won't sell you parts without your SN - but you can get everything you need from them including info and special tools for the job...

Those seals will work just fine. Make sure you clean the shaft up good, you need a good smooth surface on the shaft to seal against. Fine emery cloth will do the job if you shaft is still in good shape.

Thanks OlSchool, that is the information I was looking for. I've pretty much decided that I'm going to end up switching from GoDevil because of their "proprietary" attitude. They are not the only manufacturer of mud motors anymore. Ts a friggin seal for goodness sake. FYI the seal that I purchased and am going to try Is a TIMKEN 471567

That attitude has returned many a stolen motor to the rightful owner !
Also makes sure they send you the proper part the first time and the prices are very reasonable on everything I have ordered...

Doesn't matter, I've insurance on my motor....."that attitude" is the main reason I will not buy Apple products.
