Hi, I am getting ready to build a surface drive with a 16hp vanguard. I just got a few questions. First, where exactly should the prop sit? I have read to put the shaft about parallel with the bottom of the boat, but not real sure. Second, where are people getting the belts and pulleys to run it? Also where to get an electric clutch for it. thanks

The prop should sit 54" away from the motor

I can't wait to see what kind of nickel ass shit this mother fucker builds.. What a dipshit. I'm drunk and in a real bad mood tonight. But what in earth do you think your doing building a surface drive when you ask questions like that? Is this Glynn foreman? (I know that's not how it's spelled)

Hey, when I lean on my longtail and let it skim the water, I actually pick up speed and right then and there I have a "surface drive". Get on the right forum and maybe you'll get some answers, use the "search" function, be patient, and remember you don't have to fight anybody. Lot of good folk here they just act ornery. Pass me a cold one, please.
