I just moved to Daytona from Michigan. I brought my go devil long tail 20hp Honda and a 14' boat with me. Just wondering if anyone can tell me if there are places I can't legally or shouldn't ethically go. In Michigan it's kinda all fair game except for trout streams and private lakes. I don't plan on fuck hunting much this year unless someone wants to use my boat and motor and their decoys and knowledge.I left all my decoys in Michigan because I didn't think 200 bluebills and another couple dozen divers would be needed here. I didn't see an introduction section so maybe a moderator can move this if need be. Basically just sayin hi. |

Depending on where you are at in Florida, the bluebill decoys may be needed. Did you have much success fuck hunting in Michigan? What are the limits? What is the season? Is baiting legal? Most importantly do you prefer drakes or suzies? |

It's incredible what my phone decides to spell. Lol I'm in Daytona. It's like a foreign land down here. I was only a mile from the Saginaw bay in Michigan. Like I said, I'm looking more about info on where I can and can't go with my longtail. I'll put in the scouting hours and figure out the hunting end of things. I normally don't like these sites because most of the guy's are just keyboard trolls. I met several of my best hunting buddies in duck hunting chat because I offered to help out a new guy that everyone else tried to shoo away. Guess I was just looking for the same type of olive branch. I won't waste much more time on these sites. |

I'm moving to Michigan! I'm over in Tallahassee, not sure what you'll have in Daytona. Might want to venture to the "Big O" if the local marsh doesn't play out. Maybe a few central FL guys will chime in.. |

Herb, welcome to Florida, now log on to myfwc.com and apply for all the sta ( Storm water treatment area) hunts. After you do that check out merritt island. You are very close to some of the best water fowling in the state. Your longtail will get lots of use where you are. good luck. |

Welcome to Florida , we also have divers here . Ringers , Bluebills , and Can's  . Killed alot over at Lake George and your rig would be great there , large lake with swallow water . Can wade out 200 yds from the bank . Just learn the lay of the land brother , since your a duck hunter , you'll be fine . I'm posted this pic from last year of a hunt to give you an ideal what you can do it this state .

Welcome to florida, you should have brought your diver dekes with you. We shoot equally as many divers and puddlers where I hunt. Not many red heads but ringers and blue bills are numerous!! Get ready to have beautiful blue wings in full plume all season long, no mallards buts we have everything else. Check out merrit island nwr shouldn't be far for you. Join UWF on the members side cost $25 but the guys will help you (I'm on there a lot) and great guys to hunt with. Good luck fuck hunting this year

I guess I'll ask my question more directly. Can I just wander up the Tomoka and other rivers in this area with my motor just to explore and wander or are there areas I'm not allowed to venture. The hunting end of things I'm not worried about. I guided a bit the last few years and took the fun out of it. I truly enjoy exploring this state on the motorcycle. Next I'd like to get lost in the water. |

Welcome aboard, I made the move from Oak Park, MI back in 1969 after the lunar landing! The St. Johns river system holds ducks. I second what bbb said- become a member of UWF!! Good camaraderie and info. If you venture farther south, PM me and I will provide discourse. The STA (storm water treatment areas) near the Big O are walk-in areas that hold many ducks; this is via a permit system. Up your way, the Rodman reservoir (Putnam county?) has seen ducks over the years. If you have a dog, beware of lizards. Scout, scout, scout! |
