Post subject:  Backfiring

Took boat out today and when runnig wideopen as i slowed down and turn off the motor it was backfiring . Does anyone know what would cause this.

could be flywheel key, but mine wouldn't start. Could be exhaust leak. Thats the only times mine has done it.

I put a new muffler on it and didnot change the gaskets mabey thats it but today i was told buy a mudbuddy mechnic that my apms were to low that they should have been runnin about 4050 and they were at 3850 out of water so i ajusted a screw on the governer plate and got them back up and new its not backfiring , dont know if this has anything to do with it but so far it worked.
