upper bearing, how hot is too hot?

 upper bearing, how hot is too hot? I replaced my shaft, and noticed the upper bearing collar gets pretty hot. Checked bearings before putting new shaft is, thought they were okay. Never noticed it before, but never really payed attention. OOW at idle speed can hold hand against it no problem. If I run it wide open for a minute or 2, gets pretty hot. No smoke, but wouldn't hold my hand on it for more then a couple seconds. Normal? How hot is normal?

Re: upper bearing, how hot is too hot? What brand of motor are you running? Are you talking about a bushing or a bearing?
