1844 gd boat with. 20hp gdlt
Anyone running this set up? I plan on upgrading boat and trailer after the season to an 1844 with the split bench but will run my old lt on it for a few years to save money. I plan on doing carb and head work this winter to get a little more out of the motor and will maybe turn a 9x7 instead of the 9x6 prop. Just hoping to get some insite on the performance with the smaller lt. Thanks

That's a good bit of boat for that motor. I would imagine even with the head-work and what not, your still probably going to find that you turn a 9x6 the best. To answer your question though, that setup will get you where you need to go. It will do it slowly, but it'll do it.

I'm not entirely concerned with top speed in this setup, just getting me where I need to go until I decide on a gtr or backwater in a year or two. Hoping someone that's run a similar setup will chime in.

I'd think that all things considered, it would perform similar to woodiebuster's rig when he had that 24 on it. It will probably be a little slower on the top end seeing as he has a square chine. But I would have to guess that GD boat weighs about as much as a 3/16, barebones 1842.

I completely forgot about his! That gives me a small amount of reassurance now! If this weather up here does what it's supposed to our season will be over quick and I'll be pulling the heads off already.
