| Post subject: | Help Identifying Long Tail |
I just bought a lt motor. The previous owner said it is a Go-Devil 9hp Honda but the 9hp was replaced with a 13hp Honda. I'm not sure what year it is and there's no i.d. plate or anything on it that I can find. I just want to know for sure what it is if I ever need parts for it or anything. Here are some pictures: |

Looks like a homemade to me, def not a go-devil, mud buddy, backwater, beavertail, ect... Looking closer at the photos I would bet its def. not any kind of production model (homemade) like how the rake is welded to the strap that supports the cavitation plate, at the joint there is exposed steel where the weld didnt quite reach, where whom ever built it didnt take the time to grind that point down or off for that matter... This alone suggests to me that it is homebuilt let alone the frame is different and has a square flat plate the engine mounts on like the mad motor plans style... As far as parts go it could be a toss up, really the only way to get parts for something like this is to take stuff apart and take measurments, if you need some help feel free to send me a PM or ask a question on here... |

Alright, thanks. Hopefully it doesn't need parts anytime soon or anything. It's def a lot more solid (and heavier) than my buddies Thai made motor. If it gets me through the next 2 seasons while I'm in school I'll be happy. Then I'll sell it when I get a Gator Tail and be happy ever after. Are most of the props interchangeable or am I gonna need to find a specific one? |

Depends on how it was built... If it has a 3/4x10 threaded shaft youre good to go and can get an 8x4 weedless prop pretty much anywhere online... If its something else youre talkin about looking at a custom prop... |

It looks like a standard threaded shaft so that's good most lt props should work. Also looks well built way better then a thai kit. Good luck and have fun with it. |

Haha sorry you should be able to get a shop to make shaft or take bearings to a parts house and let them measure for replacements if you ever need to |
