Took my boat out today for the second time today since having my buddy fix my rich running condition and I turned my RPMs up so I run 4,100 in the water at WOT. The result? 26.4 mph. You simply cannot beat these motors. If you're looking into buying a new long tail, you're settling for second best if you go with anyone besides Backwater Inc. |

Those are some great numbers Frank. Have you modified the motor an or is that the stock 35? Also do you (or H finn) know if Back has any plans on putting other motors on their frames, like the subaru engine or one from kawi? |

Motor is stock. If you're interested in a different motor than what they offer, you can always buy the frame from them and then bolt on whatever motor you'd like. |

Frank, that is damn fast for an LT. This is music to my ears....I took my nephew hunting yesterday, I am very happy because I put him on birds and he dropped four ringers with four shots- and he had not used the Browning O/U for over a year- and we were running c. 17 mph with all the gear...I was just telling him about my planned upgrade to the 35 SS, to run in the low 20's would be heaven. ![]() |

Those speeds are flat flying for a lt! Congrats Frank you've got yourself a bad ass long tail. I loved my gd but it was only a 25hp. |

How did you turn your RPM's up? I have a new Backwater 35 LS on a much heavier boat than yours but my empty rpms are 3700-3800. I wish I could get 4000 without doing mods. |

make sure your throttle linkage/cable opens the throttle all the way when at WOT. what are your out of the water RPMs WOT (wide open throttle) @drpwells? |

Because of this thread I turned my OOW RPMs up to 4100. From what I've read 4300 is as far as it'll go. Is this true and should I turn it up that high? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Post subject: | Re: 26.4 |
Your motor should cut out around 4300 if it's a COD motor. Mine hits the limiter out of water and runs 4100 in water. |

Thanks for the info on the adjustment screw. Found it no problem. It runs 3800 WOT in the water. I'm gonna turn it up next time it's in the water. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I'm currently running just the stock prop! Motor has only 7 hrs on it so far. I will have to recheck my out of water rpms but I remember it started bouncing near 4100 or so! |

I have a 2005 29hp van, bangs rev limiter/gov at 4200. In water, max I saw was a solid 3460..... Ditched the 9x7 and going with a 9x6 so I can get more rpms and run in sweet spot (3900-4000).... I run BPS Tiger props Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Set idle on carb (IMO) to idle about 1400 out of water, (I adjusted my throttle cable on back of engine, I loosened the cable clamp and pulled the cable housing to me till the slider pulled on spring). Then for WOT, I moved my throttle lever to were it was in line with handle bar and adjusted cable to where it's bouncing off rev limiter...... In water I idle 1200-1300, in water WOT I see 3640 steady. But I'm going from a 9x7 prop to 9x6........ Maybe DELTA1389 WILL CHIME IN. He is better at it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Just checked my oow rpms. Idle 1400 and wot 4050. I assume that's why I can only get 3700 in a loaded boat. I'd love to get to 4000+ in the water. |
