Im looking at a Tracker 1542 and a G3 1544. I was thinking a Backwater glider and a 13. My buddy has a Tracker 1436 with a swamp runner/predator 13 and it runs about 15 with 2 guys and hunt gear. Is there going to be a huge difference in the performance of the 1436 and a 1542 or 1544? I just dont want to drop the money on a motor and not be happy with it cause its too small.

Get a 20 or a 23 if going with a 15ft boat

23 would be the smallest I'd look at. I have a Swomp 23 on a 1448 and can't imagine anything smaller.

I have the Tracker 1542 and it handles the 23 gdlt perfectly. It runs 19 with a two man hunt load.

I rode in a 15-42 with a 35 swomp. It was quite a set up that ran and handled like a dream. The transom was built up a little
In the back. If you do think you're going to go with the 35, see what it would take in terms of cost and feasibility to add to the transom height. I've driven friends welded 14-48 with a 23 swomp and it was so much fun. It was like Mario kart in a boat. With one guy in that set up, it nearly keeps up with my 35 on the Alweld
I have a 10hp glider on a 14-36 and it's purpose is to be light enough for two of us to carry it short distances into, places where I cannot launch the big boat. If you're going to have one boat that you launch with a trailer I would urge you to step up to 23hp minimum and as large a boat as you're comfortable with. My first motor was a 6.5hp and all it did was make me want something bigger.
The 15-44 would be my choice of the boats you've listed. More surface area means easier planing/displacement . I say that without knowing your running conditions, or you and your friends sizes, but larger boats handle loads better and are more comfortable to hunt and fish from. I get that it could come down to money, but I would advise you to hold out for a 23 minimum, you'll save money in the long run if you're only interested in having one set up.
Good luck!
