I have a backwater 35 ss on my grizzly mod v 1648. At low speeds I can handle the boat no problem but I am unable to get halfway through the rpms without the motor jumping out of the water. I used both of the shims with no luck. The water coming off of the boat is peaking right at the front of the cavitation plate. If I add pods to the boat will this help with this situation. I have started talking with jake at backwater and am hoping to switch the mount to the ls to help. Any other suggestions. http://youtu.be/a8rXq6I_48Y |

Hope you get it sorted out- I have the same hull (2004) and plan on putting the same motor on it. I've had to bend the cavitation plates on both GD and MB longtail motors on it, but this Backwater SS is a different animal.  At least the BW affords you more adjustment points. I also benefitted from putting the battery and a few other items in the bow storage section.

Me to I can force the motor under and it runs like 27 mph so if I can't get it to work like it should I'll be a happy guy. I am definitely impressed with backwaters product just having adaptability problems. |

Well, I'm turning a. 9x7 wheel on a 23 hp , mikuni , bps crossover, cam, setx heads . It scoots and my rig is about perfect for a longtail of that size 15x36 . It must be the gatorglide.  H Finn |

I'm gonna play with moving the weight around in my boat. Probably add pods and shorten my transom. It's just over 19 inches. And my speedometer definitely said 27. |

I've been talking with jake from backwater from the start. It's a combo of my transom height and weight. Fixed with pods and lowering the transom |

He's got an SS frame on a tall transom boat. Cutting the transom down to 16" will get him fixed. |

I thought the ss backwater motors had enough adjustment to work on both the tall and short transoms and the same for the standard length ones as well? |

I agree with you. I know that mud motors on my are not ideal on a mv but anyone who goes across Kissimmee for a morning hunt then is faced with a 7 mph head wind on the ride home across that lake would definitely understand why People use them. I don't run mud flats or jump beaver dams. I shove myself in and out of the weeds and run through hydrila |

Kissimmee can be very dangerous at times and whenever the wind is blowing I try to use the pig trail and hug the north shore as close as I can . That being said we went from point a to b in a gdsd 1660 with a gdsd 35 and it wasn't bad at all. |
