I was wondering what would be a better motor for my 14x36 boat. IM looking at the harbor freight 6.5 and 13. Total cost of kit and motor is around 300 difference so is it worth it for the bigger motor or would i be fine with the 6.5 and a few upgrades. |

That's kinda what I was thinking. How does that 13 push the boat now with a load. |

I don't know, I finished the motor after duck season but with just me 270, my dog 70, my blind, 2 dozen dekes and a shotgun and some shells the 6.5 was clocked at 7 mph. I know the 13 will do better than that. I have only been out once since rebuilding my motor and I forgot to GPS it but I would say I was running around 17 with just me and a 60 lb golfcart battery. |

On my 14-36 I had a 6.5 and jumped up to a 10. Not a ton more speed but it pushes a heavier load much better and it has about double the power in the thick stuff. I would have gone up to a 13 but I needed to be abled to carry it some distance into some remote spots. |

Thanks for the replies guys. I think im going to go ahead and spring for the 13. 7mph would suck as far down the river as i have to drive. |

I mount a 8 x 6 on a predator 420 (13) and it will push a 14 x 36 15 with a 2 man hunting load. Mark F. Cheney |

That animal looks pretty sweet. Has anyone done any of the performance upgrades to the predator 420. and how do they compare to the duromax 16. |

I realize this is an older thread, but I finally got my boat out and started fixing it up and turns out it only a 14x32. Is the 32 to narraw for the 13 hp motor or do I need to just stick with the 6.5 hp motor. |

So I got my 13 hp predator on order and started working in my 14x32, cone to fund out this boat is to beat and has to many leaks to mess with. That being said wife give me the go ahead on a new one I have found a 14x44 flat bottom and a 15x44 mod v. What would be the best boat for this motor or should I just stick with something small like a 14x36. Boat will also be used to do a little fishing unin. |
