 6.5hp Set Up
Have a question for you guys. I run a 30hp four stroke outboard 16x48. There are a couple spots I hunt that a mud motor would be nice to get that last 50-100 yards in without push pole. So my question is has anyone ever just put a 6.5 or smaller mud motor on there boat along with an outboard? Kinda like a kicker? Not looking to break speed records. Just wondering if it would work. Thanks

 Re: 6.5hp Set Up
I had a 6.5 HP longtail . was a beavertail. Idk how big your boat is, but those little longtails are a lot heavier than you may think. They also need a good bit of room on the transom. I could picture it working with a wide boat but they are extremely slow even on a little boat. Mine was on a gheenoe and worked vegetation great. But as soon as the bottom of your boat touches bottom your stuck. Especially with a duck load.
