 Frozen Throttle Cable
When hunting some nasty weather this past year, my throttle cable froze up on my 13hp Backwater. Any suggestions on preventing this next fall? WD40 was all I had on the boat, it was a quick fix, need something that is going to nip this problem in the butt. Thanks!

 Re: Frozen Throttle Cable
pour some heet fuel line de-icer in there to get rid of the moisture, and lube it real good a little dab of silicone on the ends to keep moisture out

WD-40 works pretty well too.

 Re: Frozen Throttle Cable
Quick fix in a pinch: Piss on the cable to warm it up.
Before it gets cold, shoot some silicone or wd40 up both ends of the cable, then seal with grease or Vaseline.

 Re: Frozen Throttle Cable
FYI that when it's actually cold, taking a leak on the line will do nothing but cover your motor in pee icicles.
30 degrees ain't cold. When mine was freezing up it wouldn't thaw out for more than a minute or so and that was using a torch.

 Re: Frozen Throttle Cable
Moving to Arkansas is the the only sure bet. Squirt the cable housing full of mineral oil from the drug store- yes the laxative-it's also good for reconditioning butcher block, and putting in your buddies beer when he isn't hunting out of the same boat the next morning. There are also extreme cold weather gun lubricants that work, just tell the boys down at the gun shop you're going hunting for polar bears and musk oxen and your worried about your firing pin freezing up, they'll get you fixed up right.

 Re: Frozen Throttle Cable
....... Or you could just use WD-40 and put some grease at the ends.

 Re: Frozen Throttle Cable
Silicone spray will keep it from freezing.
