I bought a 6.5 hp motor through harbor freight. The motor cranked and ran fine. I mounted it on ppf wood duck mud tail frame and everything worked fine until I put it in the water. When it's in water it will only run 3 or 4 minutes then dies. You can choke to crank again but after 2 or 3 times it gets to where it won't run at all. Harbor freight is sending me a shipping label to return under warranty. My question is has anyone else had problems with this motor or predators in general? If so how did the warranty work out? Did they replace or just fix the motor and send same one back? |

How far is it tilted back when running? Those motors have a low oil sensor that will turn it off if tilted too far back. If your fighting that ad a bit more oil to get around it. Might be that, might be something else. |

It's tilted back some but not excessive. The normal amount. This motor seems to start struggling then dies. On a beavertail final attack I got 8 mph in deep water. I'm heavy though so it's not that bad speed wise but the motor never could reach high rpms. Just seems like its struggling then dies. It also has gotten progressively worse. Jake at ppf said he had same problem with a few with bad batch of predators engines. Just trying to figure out is this the norm for predators and how they stand behind their warranty? |

Looks steep to me, but when the sensor stops my engin it's abrupt and starts back up. Sounds like you got a bigger issue. From what I hear they stand behind their warrantee, I believe they'll send you a fresh engine. |
