Mud buddy 25 Kohler prop nut came loose
I was just getting my boat put away for the season and I spun the prop and it was loose! I am going to attempt to tighen it tomorrow and was wondering if there is any secret to getting it really tight? Lock tight, or thread sealant? I know that the lock nut at the end of the shaft came be tightened because the lock ring does not have any threads in it. Any tips would be cool. Thanks

don't know about mud buddy but go devil the prop runs in a floating position that being the end of the blade should move one to two inches from left to right after it has been operated under normal conditions (example from 12:00 to 2:00)

Re: Mud buddy 25 Kohler prop nut came loose
I had a 29hp Mud Buddy LT and the prop would move at least a half inch up and down the threads on the shaft with the nuts set. I am thinking its set that way to absorb some of the shock when the props hit solid items. I would not tighten it down to the prop it has to have some give

The only thing you want to apply to the prop end threads is anti-seize grease!! Just torque the nuts per the mfg. manual and you will be ok. With both my previous GD and present MB LT's , it was desirable to have some play in the prop as the previous posters rightly described.
