I run a 1236 with a 5.5 hp. I like having this boat brecause it can get to places I can't get my big boat to and its light enough I can drag it over levees. As far as the amount of space the boat has, it's not much. I took the back seat out for more room when driving. And don't expect to get anywhere fast. If you do get a rig, but the biggest motor that the boat is rated for

Got a 1236 as well with a 5 hp. I loaded in and out of my dodge 2500 a total of 6 times and decided to put runners and a crank on my 5X8 tilt trailer. now I just winch it up backwards in the trailer. I'd say if you got a friend with you every time you take it out you would be alright.

My small riveted boat is a 14-36 with a 10hp. It conceals much easier than my 17' It's a gas to play with in the summer empty and I love where I can hunt with it. That boat has been carried drug and driven into some hard to access areas I wouldn't even want to paddle into. I used to have a 6hp but I wanted a bit more power to push through the thick stiff and a larger prop. For two adults to hunt out of I wouldn't go any smaller than 14'. A dog, bag of decoys, two guns and two blind bags , the occasional third hunter takes up every bit of 14'. An extra two feet of boat and a couple inches of width and a handful more rivets are not that much heavier to move, but it adds a decent amount of stability. It's way more fun picking up dead birds and decoys from a boat that's not underwater. Another great thing about these small rigs besides the functionality is that they are pretty reasonable to purchase and super cheap to run and maintain. You'll also not get hurt if you choose to sell it later on. They are not super fast, but they are super tough. Just remember that the first 10mph of any mud motor is always the cheapest, every mph after that, the cost rises exponentially.

45 Parallel, That remark about the first 10 MPH is the best comment I have ever read about the price of mud motor pricing and I sell them. I would also add that the amount of "fun" per dollar spent also declines after the first 10MPH

I run a 1236 sears semi v with a 7hp stump jumper. Did the same thing and took the rear seat out. Alot easier to dive. No lOad, the boat moves pretty good. looking to get a flat Jon though to replace it
