What speeds can I expect for a 25efi Kohler SS Swomp from Backwater on a 16/44 guide edition Gatortrax with a 16" transom? Looking at max 2 people, 2 pirogues and hunting gear. normally one person, gear, and one pirogue. Also, which engine is more readily (price??) modded a 25efi Kohler or a 23 Vanguard? Any ideas or opinions are appreciated. |

23 to 25. You will see 30+ with the 35/37, but you need to build the transom up to 21". Your gonna sink your boat with that 16". Just sold the same boat, but had the 35 gtr. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk |

23 to 25 with a long tail would be great. |

You'll not see those speeds with a longtail. Figure on about 18 with normal load, 15 with the pair. |

10-4, Russ! Those upper numbers on Frank's 35 SS but no way on the 25 HP! I believe those numbers are more realistic for a shortail. I would love 20 mph with two hunters and gear, I get 17.5 right now with my 27 HP. And the 35 will not sink a short transom GT 1644 unless you are hell bent on doing that sort of thing! ![]() |

With the old 24 hp honda, those are approximate speeds we got with a 1546, and a hair faster than we were able to get on a 1652 (that weighs a ton lol) |

Great boat for the size longtail you are considering. Should work fine |
