 Vtwin homemade motor
Think I may have posted in the wrong subforum originally Has anyone put a vtwin on their homemade mud motor. I ordered the mad mut motor plan (this is where you have to take a drink) to see what I can craft up. If anyone has made a thread on it I'll look harder but I've been searching all day on my poop breaks to try and find a thread where someone has made one with a vtwin. Just for reference I'll be using the predator 670 vtwin. I know I have to use a thrust bearing, possibly some others. But my curiosity is what they did with the structural strengthening for a vtwin and what u joint and what bearings were used And if they used a 1" shaft instead of 3/4"

 Re: Vtwin homemade motor
It has been done by many on this site but alot of them were before the server change so a lot of photos are no longer there... Weve build a couple with some GX670's... Its pretty simple, weld your frame, find two yokes that fit the 3/4" shaft and whatever your pto on the engine side is, slap a u-joint between the yokes... Id suggest running a caged bearing in the top of the frame; other than that the lower end should be sealed with either bronze bushing or stack of bearings... There is a wealth of info on the site... If you get stuck shoot me a PM, Id be glad to help...

 Re: Vtwin homemade motor
Is there a place where you can buy a u joint with yokes that one is 3/4 inch and one is 1 inch. McMaster Carr has them but they are all the same size on both sides

 Re: Vtwin homemade motor
So I've come to the conclusion mcmaster Carr is a junk website. After talking with them you can't buy yokes for needle bearing u joints. I found http://www.dennysdriveshaft.com to be far superior and you can Litterally buy everything but steel that you need for a custom mud motor from them. And it's all cheaper to. Roughly half the price of mcmaster carr. There aren't bronze bushing at Dennys though Sent from...wait, Where am I?

I'm going to save the links so if anybody else needs links to the necessary parts for a vtwin build you can have them fast

 Re: Vtwin homemade motor
That I don't know. What I do know is if you can find a place that sells honda small engine parts/small engine performance parts, they are interchangeable. The gx630 and gx670 parts work for this motor. It's a honda clone
