I recently purchased a new motor for my heavy 1752 alweld .100 aluminum . I have a 23 in transom. I know the lt isn't made for the high transom but at this point there's not the option to cut it down . I'm happy with the performance but wide open with one person troller battery and dog it wants to pop out. It has the screw on cav plate and iv bent that thing in increments all the way up and still cannot get it to ride mid to full trotted without popping out . Any ideas or is it just something il have to deal with? BTW it only pushes 16 mph

Speed doesn't sound out of line for that combo, that's a fairly large boat with a less than optimum transom, so speed wise, you're in the ballpark.

Post a pic of the cav plate setup you have, there have been guys here with those long extended cav plates and had trouble out of them in the past. My suggestion would be make a shorter, thicker one. The long ones seem to flatten out in the water with water pressure. My MudBuddy Longtail didn't have that, I just adjusted the trailing edge with a crescent wrench or vise grips till I got where I wanted. It was thick plate so there wasn't an issue with flexing. An excessively worn prop will tend to want to blow out too but judging by your speed that's probably not the issue. What kind of RPM are you turning?

Max Rpm Is Not Over 3800 When No Load BUT IV not recorded what it's at with a medium load. Iv only had it out once and all I did is adjust the cave plate extension. The load was troller battery fiancé up on front . I'm pleased with power If I keep it in water at half throttle it will plane out . I didn't know since transom was so high if I would be able to tune it at all.

Prop looks pretty good, RPM sounds about right, Id mess with that cav plate more. Shoot to have it riding an inch or so below the surface. Any more and you'll lose speed, any less and you'll be where you are now.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm gonna take the bolt on cav off and bend it up and see if it helps . Would you bend cav plate and then put extension back on and bend it also or something like that or prob not make a difference?

That may actually work if you can bend it square. Id just take some tools with you to the water and see what works best.

Well iv tried bending up and down for 2 hours Monday and tried with and without the extended cave plate . There is a give and take . I got it to stick in the water better or easier but it's averaging 14.5 -15.5 mph withe one person riding on front . I can bend it where it pops out and is hard to keep in water can get 15.5-16.5 mph . I'm gonna try again this weekend but it seems I can't find a happy medium and it's starting to get frustrating
