Well the 59" 35 came in friday, bolted up and ran it friday afternoon. First impression, not so good.....HAHA the thing is a beast! love it. I didn't take the gps and I honestly didn't care, I can tell it is plenty fast, rides smooth and its full of power. I but it on a 1648 Riveted Hull and it was smooth as silk, no squat in the rear. Jake sent me the pods and they will be put on before duck season. Overall couldn't be happier, and I gotta say if you are ever wondering what motor to buy, always get the biggest motor you can for your boat. If you want to spend money, just take the extra time to save the funds needed to get what you want. Long term you will have the best motor for years without ever thinking you should have bought the bigger motor. I will run again today, and maybe bring the gps. Gotta do some cat fishing. |

Yea i don't care what the gps says for mph. Just curious for the fact i can calculate my travel time on some of my longer river runs. Its fast enough for me, especially when it gets cold. |

Welcome to the club brother! Remember to put a quality moisturizing lotion on your face or you'll get stretch marks from grinning too hard.. Leave yourself adequate time for your grin to reset between running your Backwater and say attending a funeral, taking a kid to the ER, visiting your in-laws, etc., or people will think there is something wrong with you. Also, they are a ton of fun, but remember to stop driving it once and awhile and change the oil. And finally, wear that kill switch or win a Darwin award! Enjoy! |

I went with the larger pods. I can tell ya i am breaking 20mph. and the killswitch is a beautiful thing. I have not needed it, but damn the motor has some power and is night and day difference from the 10hp lol. I wont be surprised if i get bucked one of these days, but i wont be acting a fool once it gets cold. But i am taking the time while its warm to learn this thing and my limits. Its a blast to drive, and yes, I grin the whole time im running. |

My 35 runs in the low 20s still tweaking a few things. And i love it!! Took on a mud run and never got stuck. Sd got stuck in some think veg but i never did! Sent from my LGLS990 using Tapatalk |

The boat is running mid to low 20s with 2 guys depending on water depth. its a beast. Pods are going on next, have lighting ran inside and out. Still need front nav light. Putting a couple backup rear facing lights for untrailering. and next is blind ideas. probably sit on floor low profile design. Its coming along and is a lot of fun and save me a ton of money to get the motor i wanted anbd saved on the boat. I will get into an1844 mud hull one day. But i will wear the rivets off this first. |

Outstanding! Low 20's is tremendous! Did you tweak the throttle yet? Get you some Gatorglide or steelflex on the bottom! I'm already thinking "37 EFI"!!  Good job on the camo!

Thanks man. been fun. Im no pro on building a boat. but its coming along. I have not messed with the throttle or anything yet. Not sure it needs it, but i guess you are ssaying i could squeeze a few more rpms out of it?? |

Yes. Perhaps after forty hours running time. I have done this on all my "glorified lawnmower" motors, both Briggs and Kohlers. I set the rpms to c.4400 rpms out of water. I have usually seen a 2 mph increase. Another variable is the prop- BackH20's 35 HP is rated for the 9x8 (unless there has been a change) and this should work best. However, for example, my 27 HP is rated for a 9x7 but I actually run a tad better with a 9x6, not saying this will be your case, but maybe stepping down to a 9x7 might improve things. This is very much about your hull/motor combo and your load, elevation above sea level, etc. There has been no harm done to the motor- I would not advise going any higher though! Did BackH20 recommend synthetic oil and grease? I would definitely recommend those (if you have not done so already) after the forty hour mark. Not sure about your Briggs 35, but I ditched the foam pre-cleaner from the air filter, to improve air flow to carb- after all you are cutting submerged vegetation not cutting the lawn! |
