Anybody use one with a longtail? They come in 44" and 50" widths, various lengths up to 18', made of .100 gauge alum, true flat bottom, short transom, seems ideal.

I was between their 18' basic light jon and a gator trax rogue when I was ordering a hull for my 24hp. Ended up with the rogue but the basic light jon seemed like a good boat. Just liked the 1/8" hull and hunt deck over the .100 phowler.

So, is that GT Rogue an 1838? And if so, how is the stability? My first jon was a 1436 so I am leery of anything that narrow, as I'd like something ideally for up to three hunters and gear to comfortably and safely carry at a decent clip. Any negatives with the hunt deck and the 24 LT?

It's a 1638 plus hunt deck so 17' 6" total length. I don't have any problems with stability. I can have someone standing on the bow deck bowfishing and I can be standing on a cooler in the back and not feel tippy. At the waterline when the boat is sitting the width is 48 or 50" so it widens up pretty quick. I have done 3 in mine but with 3, a dog, a dozen goose floaters and a few dozen ducks it is pretty tight. With a semi worn prop I was pushing that load at 4 this past winter. Normal load of 2 guys, dog, and a couple dozen cork and wooden decoys I push 16 or 17 which is fine for me since most of my runs are still less than 20 minutes or so.

No negatives for me. The boat is narrow enough that I can stand just in front of the false transom and turn the motor from one side lock to the other without leaning over the hunt deck or leaning way out to one side. Plus it makes hunting with a dog so much nicer. She stays back there with all the mud and water instead of loading up the inside of the boat with it all.

Thanks for the input. As I stated in the other thread, I'd love to have two or three duck boats; like one for solo hunting that would be light and fast. Since I can have only one, I need at the minimum an 1844 to hunt three with gear safely and comfortably.
