I have a 25 hp kohler on a 1648 flat bottom, the boat has a scissor blind on it, the motor seems to have great takeoff but that's it, 2 guys and gear on open water was only 14 mph, maybe I'm expecting to much, any advice or tips would be helpful! |

Sounds like it runs good. My guess is your prop is worn. Look at the gdevil website at a pic of a. New prop. Does it look like yours? |

That speed is right on track for that sort of rig. There may be more to be had with a prop change but 2 guys, hunting gear, and a blind is asking a lot from 25hp |

For reference my 1752 alweld with 27 hp Kohler mudbuddy lt runs 16.5-17 with 2 people battery and troller . But I have it on a 20 inch transom . I had to redo my transom it was running 14.5 on a 22.5 in transom and once I cut it down it gained 2 mph easy and is easi er to hold in water . I'm like the other guys your in the ballpark in mph but between transom and prop wear you possibly could stretch it for more mph |

It has a brand new 9x7 hill marine prop on a 15" transom, I just ordered a tach, it doesn't seem like it's winding enough rpmsq |

What about your cav plate or trailing edge . Is it riding deep or is it popping out wot?.... I'm not sure but gd website shows a 25 hp running a 9x6 prop |

with a new 9x7 and two men with a scissor blind you should be around 3700 rpm. You should also be running around 18 or so if its a hunt load. I had the same setup for years and loved it. How is the boats attitude? Is it running nose down? Hull could have a hook at the transom. |

Try a 9x6 prop. I had that engine and got 18 mph out of it on a 18x44 godevil boat. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I've never had to fight the prop staying under water yet, now with a load equal to 3 guys all I could get was 6.5 mph, something really doesn't seem set right or the motor is weak |

We did a leak down and compression test last night and both intake valves are shot |
