 Backwater Swomp Lite Questions
Has anyone ever ran a 670 Predator on the swomp lite kit?

 Re: Backwater Swomp Lite Questions
I used the same bolt up of a swamp lite on a 20 HP Kohler on a long tail 15 years ago. That is, I hung the motor from the side plate mounting holes rather than from the bottom mounting holes. It worked well. So I don't see why not for the predator V twin as long as the PTO diameter works with backwaters solid union that they use. My Kohler had a 1 1/8" drive shaft from the motor. I am not sure but I think that the swamp light kit you are looking at is for 1" PTO shafts. You might have to come up with your own union to the drive shaft.

 Re: Backwater Swomp Lite Questions
Jake @ backwater said everything bolts up. It should run great on a 16 inch transom. My concerns are motor angle, I.e. oil sensor, carb issues. Thinking swomp 23 frame or a similar home built would be better. I know backwater has great products but when you bury the prop deep, you looking at 25-30 degree angle. Kinda scary to me.

the go kart people over fill the oil level to take care of this problem. I would assume that the swamp lite people would have to do this also.

 Re: Backwater Swomp Lite Questions
I have a 420 predator mated to a swomp lite and just disconnected the low oil censor slightly over filled and runs fine. I run mine purdy hard for what it is.

 Re: Backwater Swomp Lite Questions
Thanks everyone for help. I think I'm going to go ahead and build my own for now and save up for swomp 35.

 Re: Backwater Swomp Lite Questions
I'll be able to tell you how the 670 pred runs on this in a week or two, as Ive had the motor since March and ordered the kit Monday.

 Re: Backwater Swomp Lite Questions
I have the swomp lite v twin kit with a Honda 670. Runs great on a 18x50" custom mud hull, 20 solo. For duck season I went down to a 9x5 prop since I have been carrying 3 220 lb men and a beavertail boat blind. Runs 16-17 loaded, but I think it would still get better loaded speeds with a 9x6. Live and learn I guess.
FYI- The backwater 9x5 prop has almost no cup when new. 9x6 will dig better.

 Re: Backwater Swomp Lite Questions
I updated my build post on it. I'm definitely happy so far. Durability will be the item to be tested, but performance is great.
